This one got written just this evening. It’s been pretty hectic. But, I’d been thinking about electric vehicles since seeing the documentary Who Killed The Electric Car on Showtime. If everybody’s next car was electric, wouldn’t that dramaticaly change our dependence on oil. And if everyone had just one solar panel wouldn’t that do something? I’m probably too naive to understand how this can never be.
Electric Car
I’m going to drive my electric car into the future
I’m going to drive my electric car into the future
Into the future
Into the future
When my current car breaks down
And I’m looking for my next steed
I promise for sure I swear
I’ll switch to electricity
Watch me drive in style
I’ll be saving the world from global warming
Mile by mile by mile
I’m going to drive my electric car into the future
I’m going to drive my electric car into the future
Into the future
Into the future
It’s got a driving range of 400 miles
On a single charge
Push one little button and the top goes down
And then you’re living large
Sunshine and clear blue skies
It’s got a good sized trunk to carry my shit
Don’t want to compromise my ride
I’m going to drive my electric car into the future
I’m going to drive my electric car into the future
The sexy lines will let you know
That I’m a person on the go
I can hear my jams a whole lot better
Cause my engine noise is low
Music to my gears
My combustible engine is going to be dead
In about ten years
I’m going to drive my electric car into the future
I’m going to drive my electric car into the future
I’m going to drive my electric car into the future
I’m going to drive my electric car into the future
Into the future
Into the future
Into the future
Into the future
Regardless of what the person above wrote, clean energy is the future! Solar panels have reached “grid parity” in places like Hawaii and Italy. They are getting better every year. Fully electric cars? Who knows? Like Martin says, “I’m going to drive my electric car into the FUTURE.”
Maybe not today, but at some point it will happen.
By the way, my father worked on the EV-1 and I had a neighbor that owned one. They were truly amazing vehicles.
Anyway, as always, I enjoyed your tune Martin.
You still have to make the electricity to put in your electric car. But (regulated) power plants can be far more efficient than (unregulated) cars, and new coal technologies better than oil, and yes, eventually solar/hydro/thermal plants to replace the fossil fuel ones.
Oh, and hi. Fun car. I mean song.
