Charm And Pizazz – Lead Sheet

Charm And Pizazz is a frothy Rat Pack-ish mid tempo swinger I wrote with my jazz trio, Hollywood Rhythm Kings, in mind. Give it a read through.

Lead sheets are the tried and true way to “record” one’s song. I used to be more lazy about making lead sheets. Over time I’ve seen the error of my ways and revel at how great a tool it is for communicating. Rock and rollers usually do things more by ear. But it’s easy to forget lyrics or chords if a song gets moth-balled for a while. The age old method of notation is hard to beat.

Calling All Snowflakes

Natasha and I are going public and announcing Snowflakes, our brand new music duo which includes myself on guitar and vocals and the multi-talented Natasha Blasick on bass and vocals. The fret markers on her Daisy Rock bass, being shaped like snowflakes, inspired Natasha to come up with the name. Humans, like snowflakes, are unique creations each and every one.

Watching the Grammy Awards earlier this year got my jones going to perform live again. I try to think win-win when it comes to our own entrepreneurial projects so there’s something in it for both of us. We’ve got several movie projects in various stages of development. But the call of jamming beats loudly in my breast.

One by one I’ve written songs that work well for our particular strengths. Natasha made her live debut on bass a couple of weeks ago with one Snowflakes song. She looked like a bass master.

A few days ago at breakfast she asked why we don’t have a song about Snowflakes. Brilliant idea!! The chorus practically wrote itself. This feels like the right time to share our work in progress as a pop group with the rough demo of the Calling All Snowflakes by Snowflakes.

Pop Star intro

toay’s weight = 226.6
start = 227 (june 1, 2010)
goal = 172 (june 20, 2011)

Got in a bit of bicycling yesterday. Will try for more today.

Now that my cd is recorded and sent out to cdbaby, it’s time to make sure I can actually perform the songs. My buddy Robert Oriol wrote Pop Star with me and came up with that really nice piano line. Uhhh. How to play it as a solo act strumming and singing? I had to learn it like it was a cover tune. Here’s the intro.
